In a recent poll Phaxis conducted on the efficiency of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the recruitment process, enlightening insights have emerged, shedding light on the facets where AI does, or does not, play a pivotal role. With a diverse spectrum of responses from professionals across various industries, the survey delineated the nuanced preferences concerning the utilization of AI in recruitment. The findings underscore the indispensable value AI brings to streamline and enhance the recruitment process.


Resume Screening

A Cornerstone of Efficiency (33%)


Topping the list of AI’s beneficial applications in recruitment is resume screening, garnering a significant 33% of respondents’ favor. Traditionally, resume screening has been a labor-intensive task fraught with challenges of subjectivity and bias. However, AI-driven algorithms have revolutionized this aspect by swiftly and accurately parsing through voluminous resumes to identify top candidates. By employing machine learning algorithms, AI sifts through resumes based on predefined criteria, thereby augmenting the efficiency and objectivity of the screening process. This ensures that recruiters can focus their attention on the most promising candidates, leading to expedited hiring decisions and improved candidate quality.


Interview Scheduling

While not as predominant as resume screening or interview scheduling, 21% of respondents underscored the significance of AI in candidate matching. Matching candidates to suitable job opportunities entails a nuanced evaluation of skillsets, experiences, and cultural fit—an endeavor ideally suited for AI algorithms. By leveraging sophisticated matching algorithms, AI enables recruiters to identify candidates whose profiles align closely with the job requirements and organizational culture. This not only expedites the candidate sourcing process but also enhances the likelihood of successful placements and long-term retention.


Candidate Sourcing

An Area for Further Exploration (9%)


Although relatively fewer respondents prioritized candidate sourcing, comprising 9% of the survey sample, it remains an area ripe for AI-driven innovations. Candidate sourcing entails identifying and attracting passive candidates who may not be actively seeking new opportunities. AI-powered sourcing tools leverage data analytics, predictive modeling, and social listening to identify potential candidates from diverse talent pools, including niche platforms and passive talent repositories. Prior to joining Phaxis predecessor firm Park Hudson in 2021, Drew spent three years at engineering technology and talent solutions firm, Collabera, as Director of Sales in North Carolina. Earlier in his career, he spent nearly eight years at Insight Global, most recently as Sales Manager of the Columbus, OH office.

He holds a degree from Central Michigan University in Sales & Marketing.
